Fixed solution or BYOD?
Soft Codec VC solutions have now become the standardised method for video communication by allowing users the option to BYOD (bring your own device) to connect to the rooms video conference technology. This enables users to use a VC platform they are familiar and comfortable with such as Zoom or Teams. Smaller meeting rooms, known in the VC world as "Huddle Rooms" can now take advantage of this kind of technology without breaking the bank.
Fixed VC solutions operate in a similar way but instead of using a laptop as codec, a dedicated room PC is used allowing for a simplified meeting setup. Users simply join a meeting from the room calendar via a table mounted touch panel and the meeting is underway. Presentations can be shared through the users laptop easily via an HDMI connection.
